Rabi Island, August 2025

During August of 2025, members of the Fiery Canoe Foundation returned to our island of Rabi in Fiji, where the majority of the Banaban community resides. The visit gave us the chance to spend quality time with family and friends, rekindling relationships and sharing conversations that reminded us of the bonds that tie us together. Participating in community gatherings and visiting different villages allowed us to reflect deeply on our Banaban heritage. It reminded us not only of where we come from, but of the values, resilience, and shared history that continue to guide our community today. The experience strengthened our commitment to preserving our culture and supporting our people—both on Rabi and across the diaspora.
